Teze Bazar, located in the heart of Baku, Azerbaijan, is the oldest market in the city. Despite its age, the market has managed to maintain its popularity among locals and tourists alike.

We have focused on creating a cohesive visual identity that is inspired by the market's architecture and Azerbaijani traditional crafts.

We aimed to capture the essence of Teze Bazar - its rich history, vibrant atmosphere, and diverse offerings — while also modernizing the look and feel to appeal to a wider audience.
The inspiration for the logo came from the distinctive arches of the market building. We took these arches as the basis for the logo and rounded them into a sun-like, flower-like shape. This symbol combines the image of sunny Azerbaijan, the fertility of the soil, and the rich harvest.

The typography of the logo was inspired by the wide grotesques of the 80s markets. We paid special attention to the letter 'Ə' and designed it to easily transform into the letter 'E' for the Russian and English language. The font choice and overall design of the logo to be modern yet reminiscent of the market's history and cultural significance.

To emphasize the Eastern authenticity, we have created a color palette that can be used in various combinations.

As the main font, we have chosen TT Travels, to pair with the wide strokes of the logo. However, we also wanted to ensure that the font was suitable for use in the Azerbaijani language. Therefore, we created a custom font adapted from the TT travels, which includes specific characters and handwriting for the Azerbaijani language.
One of the key elements of the new visual identity for Teze Bazar is the arch symbol, which is inspired by the design of the market's new building. Not only does it pay tribute to the market's physical structure, but it is also a recognizable visual element commonly found in Middle Eastern architectural design.

To add a subtle and unique touch to the visual identity, we created a series of ornamental patterns. These patterns were inspired by traditional Azerbaijani carpets and textile design, which is a significant cultural element in Azerbaijan. We simplified them, to use them as a modern citation and to maintain a cohesive contemporary style throughout the design elements.
The market is a place with a vast number of sections that require organization. To aid in this, we created a set of icons, each corresponding to a specific category of goods represented at the market.

Additionally, we created a set of icons for technical and public spaces in the market, that will help customers locate amenities and important areas easily and improve the overall navigation within the market.
The market is a complex structure with many components that require branding. We worked on a variety of different mediums to ensure that, wherever a customer goes in the market, they would feel like they are in a cohesive visual system. Each of these different touchpoints have been designed to complement and reinforce the overall visual identity.

We have created a range of merchandise, such as t-shirts, bags, and other items, featuring the market's new visual identity, allowing visitors to take a piece of the market home with them and promoting the market even outside of its physical location. Overall it helps in building a stronger bond with visitors and establishes a sense of community around the market.
The market employees will wear uniforms that are inspired by traditional Azerbaijani robes, featuring the market's sun logo and incorporating colors from the market's branding palette, allowing for a range of different color combinations.
During the reconstruction of the market, the website will become the central hub for all news and activities related to the market. A promo campaign, Teze People, will be launched, which will focus on highlighting the market's future ambassadors and organizing festivals.
All the elements of the new visual identity were carried over to the website design, which features recognizable forms, bold typography and color schemes. This allows the website to not only be informative but also provide an immersive experience that matches the overall aesthetic of the new identity and enhance the customer's experience.
The website is divided into three main sections: Teze People (a magazine section), Residents, and News and Events. In the Teze People section, the cards are designed to include changing forms (a nod to the ornaments) and highlight the unique features of the market's vendors. The News and Events section has two different feeds, one for news and another for upcoming events, each featuring its own unique card design.

The Residents section is a straightforward list of vendors. The website makes it easy for visitors to browse and find the information they need, while also being visually engaging and reinforcing the overall aesthetic of the new identity.
The detailed pages have a block structure: lead, regular text, headings, image inserts, quotes, lists, and galleries. This can be used in any order. For each of these pages, a unique color pair can be selected.

The unique pages such as visit, about the market, career and contacts are assembled using a similar principle.
The new website for Teze Bazar has been carefully crafted to reflect the authenticity and modernity of the market. It follows the sunny and positive character of the brand identity, accessible, easy-to-read style to appeal to all ages.
